A Playlist for Momma When You Need Hope

When you are walking through the darkest storm of your life, watching your child fight a fight that no child should have to fight, it can feel like hope is so far away. God feels far away. For me, I found some solace in the lyrics in some of the songs that I’m sharing in the playlist below. During our 5 hour drive back and forth between Memphis and home, I would often trade out between podcasts and audio books. But, there were times where I needed something more to speak to my heart.

Below are the songs from my playlist during a time when I would turn up and sing and cry along with. Even with a hand in the air (the other on the wheel), just praising God for filling my heart. Other times, I would play some of these songs, while drifting off to sleep in tears and watching my 9 year old son’s chest move up and down as he was sleeping next to me. The words of these songs helped me to connect with Jesus when I didn’t have the words to pray over him.

The power of music is absolutely awesome. It has a way of enhancing every emotion we experience. For some it is an art form, for me, it is more like therapy. It can move me to tears or it can move me to dance, either way it is such a release.

For King & Country are big supporters of St. Jude and we had a private concert!

Heavenly Father, Your creation is amazing. Thank you for giving us the gift of music and those that share their gift of music with us. You gave us a way to connect with You even when we can’t find the words. Hear my heart, Lord. Amen.
